HOUSEKEEPER, SANTA MONICA, CA – FULL TIME – LIVE OUT ONLY
HOUSEKEEPER, SANTA MONICA, CA – FULL TIME
A private household in Santa Monica is seeking an experienced, highly capable Housekeeper / Household Assistant to care for a new residence and support the day-to-day running of the home. This is a well-established household with a young child and a small, sweet, well-behaved rescue dog. The principal travels frequently for work and maintains an established household team. Full-time nannies are in place to care for the child and travel with the principal when needed. The Housekeeper will not be expected to travel. The ideal candidate will be discreet, self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of the home without being micromanaged. The family is preparing to transition into the residence in mid-to-late October, with household activity beginning around October 19th. The ideal candidate would be available to begin that week, with the full schedule potentially beginning October 26th, or sooner depending on readiness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain the home to a very high standard
- Full laundry and ironing, including clothing and household linens; wash and press bed linens twice weekly
- Deep-cleaning projects as needed, particularly when the family is traveling
- Maintain ovens and kitchen appliances
- Clean and maintain washing machines and other household equipment
- Follow a low-tox, environmentally conscious approach to cleaning; the household avoids bleach, Lysol wipes, and harsh chemicals in favor of natural cleaning methods and products
- Care for the household’s small dog, including twice-daily walks and meal preparation
- Handle daily errands, including shopping and pickups from local markets, bakeries, and specialty food shops
- Begin each morning by resetting the kitchen and attending to dishes and breakfast cleanup
- Coordinate with household vendors, including pool, pest control, handyman, and other service providers
- Serve as the first point of contact when something in the home needs attention, coordinating with the appropriate handyman or specialist
- Monitor the home and communicate any maintenance concerns promptly
- Assist with occasional private dinners, lunches, holiday gatherings, and other entertaining
- Work collaboratively with the household’s existing nanny team and outside vendors
- Help ensure the home remains properly maintained when the family is traveling or the residence is unoccupied
- Be comfortable taking on occasional additional hours around private events or special household needs
The right person will have strong private-household experience and take genuine pride in maintaining a home. This is not a role for someone who needs to be directed throughout the day. The principal is straightforward and respectful and appreciates someone who notices what needs to be done, handles it, and communicates clearly when something requires a decision or additional support.

- Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented
- Proactive, trustworthy, and discreet
- Comfortable working independently
- Highly skilled in laundry, ironing, and wardrobe and linen care

- A clear and direct communicator with good judgment
The household has an established network of staff and service providers, including a full-time nanny team who are familiar with the home and its day-to-day operations.
